Greenolive is centrally located and a great base for visiting local attractions and participating in local activities. There are many local shops along State Highway 1 and also on the many side roads. Take a drive the check the area, you may be surprised.
Whilst you are at Greenolive, you are welcome to eat any fruit you find growing on the property.
Otaki Forks is at the end of Otaki Gorge Road where stunning mountain rivers meet and is the gateway into the Taraua Ranges with it’s many walking tracks. There is a beautiful park where you can enjoy a picnic and listen to the native birds.
Kapiti Island houses some of New Zealand’s rarest plants and provides a wonderful bird sanctuary. Visits to the island are by boat and permits can be obtained from the Department of Conservation.
Nga Manu Nature Reserve is in Waikanae and consists of 15 hectares of natural coastal wetland bush reserve.
Southward Car Museum is the largest car museum in the Southern Hemisphere and is a must for all those car buffs.
The Lindale Centre in Paraparaumu has many specialty shops and also a farm show. A great place to visit with your children.
Local markets and shopping in Otaki draws people from outside the area. The local market is every 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month between 10am and 2pm.
Children and adults will love the miniature trains at Loco Miniature Railway. The miniature landscape covers 1.4 acre using G scale models of steam locomotives. You can visit 2 acres of beautiful gardens with a play area, trampoline, petanque and backyard cricket available. Bring a picnic or enjoy a wood-fired pizza (Sunday’s only) in the garden.
